# Settlement decisions

A bordereau line without cash is not settled. Cash without a bordereau line is not allocated. RemitIQ keeps both sides in one reconciliation.

## Settled decisions

- Allocation is explicit. A matching amount is not enough on its own.
- Evidence for the allocation lives in [Context DMS](/dms/architecture/pipeline-overview/).
- A correction is a new allocation, not an edit that hides the first one.
